Spirit of Daytona On Display at "Art of the Automobile"

DAYTONA BEACH, FL: Car enthusiasts in the Birthplace of Speed will have the opportunity to see the hometown No. 90 Spirit of Daytona Chevrolet-powered Coyote Daytona Prototype at the inaugural Art of the Automobile: A Lifestyle Event car show in Daytona Beach, FL. The Spirit of Daytona display will promote the upcoming GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 race at Virginia International Raceway, as well as next year’s 50th Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Art of the Automobile: A Lifestyle Event will take place on Saturday May 7 between noon and 8 p.m. and is an exotic riverfront celebration of the history of the automobile. Strategically located on Beach St. between Orange Ave. and International Speedway Blvd. in the heart of downtown Daytona Beach, Art of the Automobile not only exhibits vehicles from every era, but accompanies its displays with music and dress from that era.

“This is something that is great for the community of Daytona Beach, our team, and the GRAND-AM series as a whole,” said Sprit of Daytona team owner/manager Troy Flis. “We are in a fortunate position to promote GRAND-AM and participate in a show that should help the community at the same time. It’s amazing to think that we have the opportunity to compete in the 50th running of the Rolex 24 next year.”

The show is expected to draw between 800 and 1,000 vehicles ranging from the Pre-War Era to the Modern Era, and includes everything from historic motorcycles to today’s exotic street and race cars.

In addition to participating in the show itself, Spirit of Daytona will also host the crew of the Car Crazy television show in an effort to increase the exposure of both the GRAND-AM series and next year’s Rolex 24.

“We are proud to have GRAND-AM and Spirit of Daytona represented on the lawn at Art of the Automobile,” said Art of the Automobile president Al Brewer. “With the series celebrating its 50th running of the Rolex 24 next January we couldn’t be more excited to help promote this historic event.”

The GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series heads to VIR next weekend for the Bosch Engineering 250. The two-hour, 45-minute race will start at 3 p.m. ET on May 14. MRN will air live radio coverage with SPEED beginning its broadcast at 5 p.m. ET.
