Daytona Beach Florida- Spirit of Daytona Racing announced today that Michael Valiante will be joining the SDR driver line-up for select events in the 2012 GRAND-AM series. Valiante will be driving the #90 Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototype along with Richard Westbrook at New Jersey, Detroit, Mid-Ohio and Montreal.
Valiante is a proven winner with experience in the GRAND-AM series. In 2008, Michael joined SunTrust/Wayne Taylor Racing and captured 3 pole positions, 4 podiums, two 2nd place finishes alongside teammate Max Angelleli. In 2009, Michael joined Michael Shank Racing and had four top 5's, two podiums and 4 fastest race laps. Michael drove limited events for Michael Shank racing in 2010 and 2011 and at the end of 2011 Valiante started the MV Motorsports Driver Development program.

Michael Valiente will join the SDR team for the May 13th event at New Jersey Motorsports Park and will continue to Belle Isle in Detroit and Mid-Ohio in early June. Antonio Garcia will re-join the team at Road America and will compete in all but one of the remaining GRAND-AM events in 2012. Valiante will also fill in for Garcia with Richard Westbrook at the Montreal round on August 18th.
