Spirit of Daytona

About Us

Headquartered just down the road from the World Center of Racing in Daytona Beach, FL, Spirit of Daytona has competed in every season of the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series since the series began in 2000; claiming 16 class wins, two team championships (2000, 2001), one driver championship (2001) and a Rolex 24 class victory (2002).

The team currently competes in the ultra competitive Daytona Prototype class with a Chevrolet V-8 powerplant developed by Earnhardt Childress Racing Engines and a Coyote chassis, a unique engine/chassis combination that has Spirit of Daytona fully expecting to compete for overall race wins and championships. Championship drivers Antonio Garcia and Paul Edwards give the team a driver line-up as decorated as any in the Rolex Series garage with Edwards (2004 Rolex Series GT class champion) joining Garcia (Rolex 24 At Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring and 24 Hours of LeMans race winner) for the 2011 season.

Founded in 1987, Spirit of Daytona has evolved from competing in club-racing events to being a mainstay in America’s most prestigious endurance racing series. Team owner/manager Troy Flis has steered the team since it began and continues to oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization.
