Spirit of Daytona Racing announced today that Richard Westbrook will be joining the SDR driver line-up for the entire 2012 GRAND-AM series. Westbrook will be driving the #90 Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototype along with returning Spirit of Daytona driver Antonio Garcia.

DAYTONA BEACH, FL:  When Spirit of Daytona team owner/manager, Troy Flis, first heard that Chevrolet was introducing a new Corvette Daytona Prototype for Grand-Am Rolex series racing in 2012 he knew that he wanted to be a part of it. After an incredible winning streak with Corvettes in the GT ranks, Flis has high hopes of returning to Victory Lane with the iconic brand.

DAYTONA BEACH: FL It was a landmark season for Spirit of Daytona in 2011. The GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series team had its best year in the Daytona Prototype ranks with drivers Antonio Garcia and Paul Edwards racing in the top 5 each and every weekend, leading 108 total laps in 12 races. 

MONTREAL, QUEBEC: After a season of showing speed each weekend, but suffering from a series of misfortunes, Spirit of Daytona finally showed its potential Saturday at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. The No. 90 Chevrolet-powered Coyote sat in the top 5 for most of the weekend -- starting fourth and finishing fourth -- a much-deserved run for a team that’s led 108 laps and sat on the front row five times – two poles – without a top 5 finish to show for it.

MONTREAL, QUEBEC: Spirit of Daytona showed the speed of a top 5 car once again at Watkins Glen last weekend, but tire wear that plagued a number of GRAND-AM Rolex Series DP teams hindered a potential podium finish for the No. 90 Chevrolet-powered Coyote.
